Chicago Cop Kills A College Male Student and 55 Year Old Woman

Chicago police -- under intense scrutiny in recent months over officer-involved shootings -- were involved in another on Saturday morning, an incident that left two people dead, police said.
The latest officer-involved shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. (5:30 a.m. ET) Saturday near West Garfield Park, Chicago police spokeswoman Ana Pacheco said.
In a later press release, police explained that officers had gone to the location for "a domestic disturbance."
"Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a combative subject resulting in the discharging of the officer's weapon, fatally wounding two individuals," the police said.
The department did not indicate what, if anything, the two had to do with the reported disturbance.
But a Chicago fire dispatcher reported that a man and a woman were transported from the area after the shooting.

Later Saturday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said the people killed were 55-year-old Bettie Jones and 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier. The coroner's officer said autopsies would be completed Sunday morning.
Janet Cooksey, the mother of LeGrier, told CNN affiliate WLS that her son died of several gunshot wounds.
"I went to the hospital; my son has seven bullet wounds in him," Cooksey said. "And that's too much."
Cooksey added that her son had been in college studying engineering.
"He was having a mental situation. Sometimes he will get loud, but not violent," Cooksey told the station, referring to her son.
