NBA Player Greg Oden Punches Ex-girlfriend In The Face

NBA player Greg Oden was arrested in Lawrence Ind this morning for domestic violence. Oden allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face during an argument.

The incident happened around 3:30 in morning according to a Lawrence Police Department report. Officers arrived at the home to find the victim crying and lying across a bed in the master bedroom. The victim suffered suffered blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area.

According to TMZ, Oden told the police "Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim. My relative and witness tried to hold me back, but as I swung my arms to move them out of the way, then punched the victim in the face. I was wrong and I know what has to happen."

Greg Oden was picked first in the 2007 draft, before Kevin Durant. His NBA career has been a bust due to injuries, however, the Miami Heat chose to give him an opportunity in 2013. After this incident, it will be hard to find a team to invest once his character off the court is in question.

Domestic violence should not be tolerated by any means. Every man should be taught to walk away from an altercation with a woman before it escalates into violence. Teaching our youth about domestic violence is a priority so that boys will have an easier time controlling their anger when they become men.
